A sinus lift is a surgical procedure that increases bone volume in the upper jaw near the back teeth. In this area, the maxillary sinus limits available bone height. The procedure involves lifting the sinus membrane and placing bone graft material beneath it. After healing, sufficient bone is created for safe implant placement. Two approaches exist: a lateral window approach for larger augmentations, and a crestal approach for smaller ones.

No. The procedure does not affect sinus function or breathing.
Usually after 6–9 months. In some cases, implants can be placed at the same time.
The main risk is sinus membrane perforation, which is usually repairable immediately. Complications are rare.
